Marie Finnerty, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Catholic Charities of Chemung and Schuyler Counties, announced today that Mr. Charles Nocera has been appointed as the Executive Director of Catholic Charities of Chemung and Schuyler Counties (CCCS) effective June 1, 2013. Mrs. Finnerty adds, “I am very thankful for the work of the Search Committee and on behalf of the Board, I am pleased to announce the promotion of Mr. Nocera to Executive Director.”
Mr. Nocera was previously Associate Executive Director for CCCS and also served as the Director of Residential Programs. He has 38 years of leadership experience from both non-profit and government organizations. He served as Executive Director of American Red Cross of Tompkins County for 18 years. Chuck has a B.A. in Psychology from SUNY Fredonia and was a doctoral student at Cornell University for more than three years in the field of Human Service Studies. Chuck has a broad knowledge of residential programs including homeless shelters and transitional and permanent housing. His diverse background also includes experience in evaluation, financial development, and finance, grant and program management.
Anthony Barbaro, Associate Diocesan Director of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Rochester, stated “I am delighted that Chuck will lead Catholic Charities of Chemung/Schuyler. He has the right skill set and leadership drive to position the Agency for continued success.”
Mr. Nocera comments, “I am humbled to be asked to build upon the good work of my predecessors as Catholic Charities Chemung/Schuyler is challenged to put our compassion and caring into action in today’s changing economic and political climate. My goal is that Catholic Charities Chemung/Schuyler becomes known for the quality of its programming and positive impact in the lives of our neighbors in need. It is my desire that all who come in contact with us know our compassion and caring.”
