ELMIRA, N.Y. – “On behalf of Catholic Charities, I would like to thank the community and the following businesses for their support of our Back to School Drive: Cappy’s Cards & Gifts, Mr. Panosian’s Famous Shoes, The Purple Iris Boutique, Treu Office Supply & Furniture, Cabins to Castles Real Estate, Famous Brands, Glen Mountain Market, JBK Bridal & Prom, Jerlando’s Pizza, O’Susannah’s Quilts & Gifts, Savard’s Restaurant, Village of Watkins Glen Municipal Office and Watkins Sporting Goods,” states Lindsay Winters, Catholic Charities’ Director of Development.

Thanks to their support, Catholic Charities was able to assistance 127 children in Chemung County and over 300 children in Schuyler County. Items distributed included school supplies, clothing, sneakers and backpacks. Unfortunately the need for supplies far outweighed the number of supplies donated, therefore the Samaritan Center in Elmira will continue to accept any donations of new school supplies and new or like new sneakers, backpacks or seasonal clothing. “Your assistance in helping local children start the school year ready to learn is always appreciated… what a tremendous gift to give,” states Winters.

Donations will be accepted at Catholic Charities’ Samaritan Center, 380 S Main St, Elmira, Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – Noon, 1 pm – 4:30 pm.
