Catholic Charities Conducts Point-In-Time Study
Catholic Charities leads the charge in Chemung & Schuyler Counties to examine homelessness
Elmira, NY- Catholic Charities will be conducting interviews with the public to measure homelessness in our Chemung & Schuyler communities on Thursday, January 30, 2014. This Point-In-Time Study will be conducted in a five county region and is part of US Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) funding and in partnership with the Institute for Human Services. A “Point-In-Time” study (PIT) is a coordinated effort within a specific region to count the number of homeless persons during a specific one-day point in time. HUD requests this information in an effort to better understand and address homelessness at a national level. As a result of this PIT Study, federal funds could be used to address homeless issues specifically within our region. Therefore, Catholic Charities’ funding is directly tied to the completion of this study.
Catholic Charities provides shelter to the homeless, food for the hungry and opportunities to end the vulnerabilities that prevent people from living dignified lives. For more information about Catholic Charities or our programs please call 734-9784.
