WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – On Sunday, June 1, 2014, the Montour Moose Riders will host their second annual motorcycle ride to benefit Catholic Charities of Schuyler County. Registration will take place from 9am-10:30am that morning. At 11am the riders will embark on a beautiful ride along Seneca Lake. This event is open to the public and will be held rain or shine.
Registration is $10 for riders and $5 for passengers. Riders are also asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the Schuyler Outreach Food Pantry or a personal care item for victims of domestic violence. Some needed items include cereal, pasta, canned fruit, peanut butter and personal hygiene products. A complete list of needs can be found on the Catholic Charities’ website, www.cs-cc.org. All proceeds benefit the Schuyler Outreach Food Pantry and the First Step Victim Services Program.
Bethany Worrey, Victim Services Supervisor stated, “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Montour Falls Moose Riders for their generous initiative with this event. Receiving community donations, participation and dedication is a key factor in sustaining program funding and awareness for domestic violence. Specifically, these funds will assist First Step in providing emergency support to victims served in Schuyler County.”
“Without the support of organizations like the Montour Falls Moose Lodge, Schuyler Outreach would not have the funding to function at the same level as it does right now. Schuyler County residents depend on the Pantry to provide them with a three day supply of food when they are in need. This event will not only raise funds to purchase food, it is increasing community awareness of hunger in the community and for that I am very thankful,” acknowledges Jessie Ketter, Schuyler Outreach Program Coordinator.
