WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – Catholic Charities’ Schuyler Outreach Food Pantry can be visited once a month by any member of Schuyler County, regardless of income. During a visit, families receive a minimum 3 day supply of food for each member of the family. Based on the “My Plate Guidelines” a family of 4 would receive 18 fruit and vegetable choices, 12 protein choices and 6 grain choices. 18 cans of fruits and vegetables are not desirable to most families. Fresh, crisp fruits and vegetables are far more appealing and versatile.
During a single month, 4,500 servings of fruits and vegetables are given out. We are in need of help from our community. If you are planning to plant a garden this year, please consider adding a row for your neighbors in need. On average, we see 250 households a month which includes an average of 170 children. These children would love to receive fresh fruits and veggies!
Donations can be dropped off at Schuyler Outreach at the following times: Tuesday: 9am—2pm, Thursday: 9am—2pm, Friday: Noon—4pm. Tax receipts for donations are available upon request. The Schuyler Outreach Food Pantry can use fresh produce, as well as, personal care items year round. Schuyler Outreach is located at St. Mary’s Center (112 Tenth Street, Watkins Glen).
Thank you for helping our neighbors in need. It’s amazing what we can do together! Pledge to Plant a Row
