WATKINS GLEN, NY– At Catholic Charities’ Schuyler Outreach Food Pantry, the focus is on alleviating the effects of poverty by providing families with nutritious food to empower them to live healthy, active lives. For anyone living in Schuyler County, an emergency 3-day supply of food is given out once a month. Additionally, a Mobile Food Pantry, from the Food Bank of the Southern Tier, is on site the first Saturday of every month.
Schuyler Outreach would like to invite businesses and organizations to take part in a team building activity to help them better understand hunger in our community. Opportunities are available on the first Saturday of each month to volunteer at the food truck distribution. A brief tour and question and answer time will take place at 8:30 am while waiting for the truck to arrive. The team will unload and unpack a trailer truck full of food from the Food Bank and distribution will start promptly at 10 am and end at 11 am. After a quick clean up, the team will be finished by noon with a better understanding of how they can partner with Catholic Charities to meet local needs.
If your business or organization is interested in participating, please contact Kris Morseman, Schuyler Outreach Food Pantry Coordinator at 607.535.2050 or via email to sign up for a month. The Schuyler Outreach Food Pantry is located at 112 Tenth Street, Watkins Glen (St. Mary’s Center).
Schuyler Outreach relies on generous donations in order to meet the needs in Schuyler County. Donations of food are accepted during regular pantry hours (Tuesday and Thursday: 9am-2pm, Friday: Noon-4pm). Monetary donations may be mailed to Catholic Charities, 607 North Franklin Street, Watkins Glen, NY 14891 (memo: Schuyler Outreach) or given online.
