Catholic Charities’ Samaritan Center renovations will start this month and will impact hours and staff availability. The Samaritan Center Food Pantry (380 S. Main St, Elmira) will remain open during the process. The hours will remain: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 10 am – 3:30 pm; Tuesday: 10 am – 4 pm (closed for lunch from noon – 1 pm). People in need of food should use the Mount Zoar Street entrance to access the Pantry.

The Samaritan Center building will be closed January 17 until January 28 for all other services. People in need of rental assistance, prescription drug assistance or emergency shelter, can visit Catholic Charities’ main office at 215 East Church Street during regular business hours (Monday – Friday: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, closed for lunch noon-1 pm) during the time the Samaritan Center is closed for renovations.

During renovations, no donations will be accepted. Please visit the Catholic Charities’ website or Facebook page for updates on when donations will be accepted again. One exception is that donations of food may still be brought to the Mount Zoar Street entrance during Pantry Hours.

The renovations and improvements, due to grant funding, will create a welcoming and updated environment for Catholic Charities’ employees and the public. Improvements include new flooring, new paint, an updated waiting area and changing station for the bathroom.
