Catholic Charities of Chemung and Schuyler Counties is very appreciative for a recent donation from Guthrie’s Take Our Daughters and Sons To Work Day. Youth spent the day learning about a career in the medical field and packing 23 care packs for individuals currently experiencing homelessness. “The care packs included snacks and personal care items; all things Catholic Charities continually needs,” states Lindsay Baker, Catholic Charities’ Director of Development. “Community events, like this one, truly help fill the gap between grant funding and community needs.”

Event organizer and Guthrie employee, Patricia Hughey, truly went above and beyond to make this event and donation possible. Hughey’s goal was to not only educate youth on potential careers but remind them of the importance of giving back to their community. Hughey states, “we hope it makes a difference in someone’s life.”
