For people age 55 and over, RSVP offers volunteer opportunities with local and national organizations. You choose the amount of time you want to give. You decide whether you want to draw on your skills or develop new ones. You find the opportunity that’s right for you. As an RSVP volunteer, you receive pre-service orientation, training from the organization where you serve, and supplemental insurance while on duty. When you volunteer, you’re not just helping others-you’re helping yourself. Volunteering leads to new discoveries and new friends. Studies show volunteering helps you live longer and promotes a positive outlook on life.
The more we demonstrate the contributions of today’s 55 and older volunteers, the more we dispel misperceptions about aging. As an RSVP volunteer, your volunteer hours are counted when identifying the impact today’s 55 and older population has on a community’s health and welfare. Tracking volunteer data is a valuable tool in highlighting volunteer impact on a community. It shows what volunteers really accomplish and demonstrates their value to non-profit organizations nationwide. Without RSVP tracking, volunteer efforts may go unnoticed, resulting in a lack of knowledge of the true impact of today’s volunteers. That collected data is shared with local, state and federal lawmakers, who use the information to determine future funding for volunteer efforts.
If you are age 55+ and would like to become a volunteer, please contact us today!
