Dear U.S. House Representative Tom Reed:
We urge you to support STRONG funding in the FY 2018 federal budget for programs and services to meet the needs of victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking, and human trafficking and for community education to raise awareness, prevent violence, and foster respect for human dignity.
The victims of these crimes can include women, children, teenagers, the elderly, persons with disabilities among others. The Centers for Disease Control estimates that 22.3 percent of women and 14 percent of men have experienced severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetimes.
Catholic Charities and other non-profit agencies, State and local governments, law enforcement agencies, as well as colleges and universities rely on federal funding to facilitate survivors’ recovery from the often life-shattering effects of domestic and sexual violence and prevent further acts of violence.
Please tell us you will speak up for strong federal investments in these critical services.
Sign during our NO MORE Week of Events or at our Catholic Charities’ Main Office (215 E Church St) during the month of March.
