I am touched by the outpouring of community support for those in need in Schuyler County. The Third Annual Concert for the Community, held on August 20, 2016, was organized entirely by Jesse Bloodgood, a 2015 graduate of Watkins Glen High School. Bands from Watkins Glen, Elmira and Corning donated their time and talent to support Catholic Charities’ Schuyler Outreach Food Pantry. Heavily Brewing Company donated the space for the event, as well as, $ .50 per pint of beer sold. A food truck was unable to participate in the event and the owner of the brewery stepped up and prepared food for those in attendance. The musicians signed a drum head and donated it to Schuyler Outreach where it will be displayed alongside a photo of the bands presenting it to Kris Morseman, Pantry Coordinator. The event raised $580 plus the funds being donated by Heavily Brewing Company, the amount which has not yet been determined. Over 2,000 pounds of food can be purchased from the Food Bank of the Southern Tier with the funds raised from the event. ~Deb MacDonald, Schuyler Agency Director
